Stephen Ballantine

Stephen Ballantine is Senior Counsel and Head of Catastrophic and Complex Injury Claims in the firm's Dispute Resolution practice, based in the Dubai office. He has a 34-year legal career, having trained at Taylor Joynson Garret in the City of London and subsequently practiced at Clyde & Co and DLA Piper in Dubai before joining Galadari.

Mr. Ballantine leads the firm's Medical Malpractice Group, specializing in defending and advising hospitals, clinics, physicians, and nurses—and their medical malpractice underwriters and reinsurers—in criminal, civil, and regulatory proceedings. He has achieved remarkable success in overturning adverse Medical Liability Committee decisions through appeal submissions to the Supreme Committee of Medical Liability.

He has acted as an expert witness in UAE law and court procedure in legal proceedings in England, Canada, and the United States, and regularly trains lawyers in UAE Medical Malpractice Law under the Continuing Professional Development regulations of the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department. He is also a regular speaker on medico-legal topics at Arab Health conferences.

Stephen holds an LLB (Hons) from University College, Cardiff (University of Wales) and completed the Law Society Solicitor's Final Examination at the College of Law, Chester.
