Qasim Aslam

Qasim Aslam is a Partner in the Banking and Finance practice at Dentons, specializing in Banking and Finance Law. He is the Head of Islamic Finance – Middle East and has extensive international experience in Islamic finance, project finance, and structured finance across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

Qasim has acted on numerous market‑leading deals, including advising Citi and Emirates NBD on the US$800 million Salik road toll securitisation—the world's first Islamic road toll financing—which won multiple awards including Middle East Transport Deal of the Year and Structured Finance Deal of the Year. He advised Emirates Steel Industries (ESI) on its US$1.3 billion refinancing and Sumitomo Chemical on the US$8 billion Petro Rabigh Phase II expansion in Saudi Arabia. He also acted for the financiers' coordinating committee in the US$1.2 billion Islamic restructuring of Limitless and advised Bank of Tokyo‑Mitsubishi UFJ on the award‑winning US$100 million Islamic commodity murabaha facility to the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector.

He holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Glasgow (1994) and is qualified as a solicitor in Scotland (1996) and the Senior Courts of England and Wales (2005).

Qasim is consistently recognised as a leading practitioner: ranked Band 2 in Islamic Finance by Chambers & Partners Global, a Leading Partner by The Legal 500, and "Highly Regarded" by IFLR1000.
