Lawyer Profile

Omar Al Bakri is a Senior Associate who initially joined Al Tamimi & Company's litigation department in Jordan before being reallocated to the Corporate Department in Dubai. His primary practice area is Corporate Law.

During his time as a legal advisor in the Corporate Department, he advised various clients on establishing a business presence in the UAE and on registering, forming and dissolving business entities, gaining in-depth knowledge of local regulations both theoretically and practically. He has also contributed to advising free zone authorities in Dubai from a regulatory perspective, and has drafted bylaws, agreements and internal policies for companies to define the legal rights and responsibilities of company officers.

His litigation background gives him an analytical, problem-solving and risk management mindset, especially in advising legally and finding solutions to unseen legal complications in a company's business. His clients include companies operating in healthcare, transport, education, technology, manufacturing and production, real estate and construction, and charitable organisations.

His recent experience includes advising on the restructuring and implementation of a major clinical group in Dubai and of two of the largest family businesses in the GCC; advising one of the globally leading transport companies on the establishment of a company in Dubai and on regulatory approvals; advising and redrafting the laws and regulations of Meydan Free Zone Authority; and advising Uber on regulatory approval for the transport sector.

He has also advised on the corporate governance framework of Jordan for a project linked with the EBRD; advised several communities on establishing non-profit organisations; advised on the required governmental approvals to conduct healthcare, transport and real estate activities; and advised on insolvency, liquidation and winding-up laws, regulations and their practical procedures. He also advises on foreign direct investment, restructuring, merger and acquisition transactions, and on specifying the Ultimate Beneficial Owner of a company under UAE laws and practices.

He holds an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of the West of England (2019) and an LLB from the University of Coventry (2018). He was admitted to the Jordanian Bar Association in 2021 and speaks English and Arabic.
