Udayan Mukherjee

Udayan Mukherjee is a Partner at Dentons in Dubai, practicing in the Banking and Finance Law group. He has extensive experience in project finance, structured trade finance, restructuring, general banking, and Islamic finance transactions in the Middle East and internationally, advising banks, developers, borrowers, sponsors, and governments on both English law and UAE law transactions.

Udayan has advised on a number of major project financings in the infrastructure and industrial sectors. Notable matters include advising the consortium comprising ACWA Power on the conventional and Islamic financing of the Ibri II IPP, Oman's largest utility‑scale solar PV Independent Power Project generating 500 MW; advising Emirates Steel on a US$400 million murabaha financing; advising on the US$8 billion expansion of the Petro Rabigh refining and petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia; and advising a syndicate of banks on the AED900 million facilities to Aujan Coca Cola Beverages Company.

Prior to joining Dentons, Udayan worked for a magic circle firm in London and Tokyo, and as in‑house counsel supporting the Project Finance Department of a large investment bank. He also undertook a secondment at the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. He holds an LL.B in Law and Japanese from Cardiff Law School (1995) and qualified as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 1999.
