Alex Ghazi

Alex Ghazi is a Partner and a specialist corporate lawyer at Al Tamimi & Company, based in Abu Dhabi. His practice focuses on Corporate Law.

From 2015 to 2017, Alex was the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary for Arabtec Holding PJSC. He obtained his LLM in International Business Law in 1993 from France, and after training and working with Clifford Chance (Paris and Dubai), he moved to Marriott International in Dubai and then in London, heading the legal department for Europe and the Middle East. He later became the Chief Legal Officer for Abdul Latif Jameel in Jeddah before joining Arabtec in July 2013 as Chief Legal Officer for Arabtec Construction.

Alex has spent most of his working career as a corporate lawyer, involved in various international transactions. Over the years, he led various legal teams and departments in different industrial sectors, starting from real estate development, to automotive, to construction.

His recent experience includes serving as Group General Counsel at Arabtec Holding PJSC, managing the Group's legal and compliance department and its team of lawyers, covering Board meetings, compliance and corporate governance, construction contracts and arbitration, corporate and commercial matters, commercial and labour law advice and litigation. At Abdul Latif Jameel Co. Ltd, as Group Chief Legal Officer, he developed the Group legal department domestically and internationally, and organised all Board meetings as Company Secretary, supervising all legal work for the Group including importation, marketing and sales, financing, advertising and media, real estate management and development, JVs, M&As, litigation, compliance, IP management, HR, international and domestic corporate restructuring and corporate governance.

At Marriott Vacation Club International, as Vice President and Senior Counsel, Alex led the team responsible for all legal aspects relating to the development, marketing, sales, operation and organisation of timeshare in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including drafting legislation, hotel management agreements and resort development and joint venture agreements.

He holds a DESS (equivalent to LLM) in International Trade Law from Université de Nanterre, Paris X, and a Masters in general private law (equivalent to LLB) from Université de Panthéon – Assas, Paris II. He speaks Arabic, English and French.
