Zayd Husseini Eyre

Zayd Husseini Eyre is an Associate in the Innovation, Patents & Industrial Property (3IP) practice at Al Tamimi & Company, based in Dubai International Financial Centre, focusing on Patent Law. He has over six years’ experience advising on intellectual property.

Starting his career as a patent attorney, Zayd was involved in a range of patent prosecution work including upstream and downstream petrochemicals, industrial chemical processes, ophthalmic lenses and general engineering. He also has experience before the EPO Opposition Division and Boards of Appeal.

He has additional experience advising on trade secrets, having presented internally and externally on trade secret policies and co-authored an article in an IAM Special Report on the implementation of a trade secret strategy.

Prior to joining Al Tamimi, he worked within the IP Advisory team at Deloitte London, where he provided clients with strategic advice surrounding their IP endeavours. While at Deloitte, he presented at the AI in Biotech conference, covering the intersections of IP, AI and drug discovery.

His recent experience includes drafting a number of patent applications for CooperVision, an ophthalmic lens manufacturer, covering new ideas in the contact lens space; working with Chevron Phillips Chemical on several oppositions and appeals at the EPO Boards of Appeal and Opposition Division; assisting Swiss Re on IP discovery work; advising an international bank on the patentability of cloud resource management methods; advising a reduced-risk products company in the vaping sector on the potential sale of its IP assets; competitor benchmarking for a high-tech hardware and software firm in Abu Dhabi; and patent drafting and prosecution for a range of clients from individual inventors to large corporations, including universities.

He holds a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University (2017) and was admitted as a European Patent Attorney in 2021. He speaks English.
