Wassim Mahmoud

Wassim Mahmoud is a Legal Advisor at Al Tamimi & Company, based in Dubai International Financial Centre, focusing on Civil Litigation. He joined the firm in 2018 in the Litigation department, where he assists on a variety of litigation matters.

Wassim is very familiar with Omani laws and court procedures and has successfully dealt with matters in the civil, commercial, criminal and administrative practice areas. He is eligible to draft and prepare legal notices, statements of claim, memorandums and defences, and also drafts criminal complaints and is familiar with the procedures of the Royal Oman Police and the Public Prosecution. He has built strong relationships with various governmental bodies and judicial authorities in Oman.

He also advises clients on a variety of disputes, including arbitration matters with respect to Oman jurisdiction, and has experience in corporate commercial practice through assisting the Corporate team in preparing due diligence reports and generating advice to clients. His intellectual property experience consists of preparing and registering trademarks and patents in Oman and drafting legal notices and oppositions related to infringement of intellectual property rights.

His recent experience includes acting for an international company in debt recovery cases; acting for an international company in a dispute to recover OMR 3 million resulting from a bounced cheque; acting for a UAE company in two construction disputes to recover outstanding dues of more than OMR 600,000; acting and advising international bunker suppliers in filing precautionary attachments over ships anchored in the ports of Oman; and advising and acting for international and local companies in enforcing local and foreign judgments.
