Lawyer Profile

Rashid Khan is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution team in Dubai, focusing on Construction Law. His practice focuses on proceedings before common law courts in the region and in arbitration, with a particular focus on construction disputes.

Prior to joining Al Tamimi, he worked at a large City firm in London and for a leading global law firm in the DIFC, Dubai.

Rashid has extensive experience representing a range of clients including banks, insurers, developers and contractors, acting in complex, high-value disputes involving heavy fact and highly technical expert witness evidence. He has experience successfully obtaining urgent interim relief in common law courts, including injunctions to prevent the liquidation of on-demand bonds.

He handles disputes from the initial advice stage through to final judgment or award and beyond, including enforcement proceedings, and has knowledge of the rules and procedures of leading international arbitration institutions and common law courts in the region.

His recent experience includes acting for a large UAE-based developer in DIAC arbitration proceedings arising out of the construction of a mixed-use tower in Dubai; acting for a global security contractor in QICDRC proceedings arising out of works at the New Hamad Port in Qatar; acting for a bank (developer) in DIAC arbitration proceedings concerning claims arising out of the construction of a large residential development in Dubai; acting for a developer in DIFC Court proceedings arising out of the construction of a large residential development in Dubai; acting for a large contractor in relation to a dispute arising out of the construction of over 1,000 villas in Dubai; and acting for a joint venture owner in relation to a US$500 million claim arising out of the construction of an offshore wind farm.

He also acted for two music publishers in ADGM Court proceedings against a UAE-based online music streaming provider concerning copyright infringement, and for a large insurance company in DIFC Court proceedings concerning a third-party services agreement.

Rashid holds a Legal Practice Course from the College of Law, London (2006) and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Essex (2005). He was admitted as a Solicitor of England & Wales in 2013 and speaks English.
