Mohammed Ali

Mohammed Ali is a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property Practice, having practised in this area of law for 14 years. His primary practice area is Trademark Law. Since his graduation, he has practised civil and property laws in various Indian courts for four years and has gained experience in that jurisdiction.

He has managed more than 10,000 trademarks covering the Middle East and Africa region, with a volume of renewals of about 1,000 trademarks per year. He has extensive experience in trademark prosecution, registered design prosecution for various industries, and searching and clearance-related advisory throughout the Middle East and Africa and in other jurisdictions worldwide.

He has managed complicated internal licensing and assignment projects and has experience in monitoring programmes and in handling watch notices and oppositions. He is able to advise on trends and outcomes of prosecution for specifically non-conventional trademarks in the region, and has experience handling trademark enforcement cases in Middle East countries, especially the UAE, Egypt, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

He joined Al Tamimi & Company in June 2006 from Emirates Advocates & Legal Consultants, Dubai, where he had worked as a lawyer for the previous three years in their Intellectual Property department.

His recent experience includes handling a clearance search project for a number of trademarks for Nissan Motors in various Middle East countries; handling trademark enforcement cases for the 3M brand in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait and Iran; handling trademark prosecution for a number of trademarks throughout the world for Signature Snacks LLC; handling trademark prosecution for a number of trademarks in MEA countries for Dubai Islamic Bank PJSC; and handling trademark prosecution and enforcement cases for Dole Food Company in the Middle East countries.

He holds an IP Certificate Course from the World Intellectual Property Organization (2007), a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Mangalore (1997) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Calicut (1993). He was admitted to the State Bar Council of Kerala, India in 1998. He speaks English, Hindi and Malayalam.
