Hussam Helal

Hussam Helal is an Associate at Al Tamimi & Company in Sharjah, UAE. His practice focuses on Corporate Law, with experience in commercial transactions, regulatory matters and dispute resolution.

Hussam joined the Syrian Bar Association in 1987 and practiced law before the Syrian courts in civil, commercial and legal cases until 1998. In 1999, he moved to the United Arab Emirates and worked for more than seven years at the legal affairs section with the Sharjah Economic Development Department, where he provided legal advice and administrative support, particularly for commercial companies' transactions, in addition to resolving disputes related to insurance, commercial fraud and trademark counterfeiting in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy.

His recent experience includes advising a manufacturing client in Ras Al Khaimah on the application of FDI regulations and implementing the issuance of the first FDI license in Ras Al Khaimah, restructuring a healthcare arm and proposing a new ownership structure for hospitals, medical centers, pharmacies and drug stores, and advising a major shareholder in a water desalination project in Umm Al Quwain on creating the project company and obtaining approvals. He also worked on the sale of the Al Zahra Hospital Group in Sharjah for USD 572 million.

He holds a Bachelor of Law from Damascus University and was admitted to the Syrian Bar Association in 1987. He speaks Arabic and English.
