Alaa Momtaz

Alaa Momtaz is a Legal Director in the Employment & Incentives team. His primary practice area is Employment Law, and he advises on contentious and non-contentious matters, as well as on UAE immigration and visa status issues.

He has extensive knowledge of the UAE courts, rules and procedures, as well as the relevant proceedings and regulations at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. He also has broad experience in drafting court memos, pleadings, settlement agreements and notices. He has been involved in representing and defending some of the firm's most notable and high-profile multinational clients on employment litigation issues.

His recent experience includes providing clients with advice on the UAE Labour Law and its Executive Regulations; providing legal assessment on cases and disputes filed by employees against companies for claims arising out of or in connection with the employment relationship; advising on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, both onshore and in free zones; advising clients on employment-related criminal acts under the UAE Penal Code and Cyber-Crimes Law; attending mediation meetings with the concerned labour department; and providing training sessions and presentations to clients' HR, legal and managerial-level employees with regard to the UAE Labour Law, its executive regulations and Ministerial Resolutions.

He holds a Bachelor of Law from Ain Shams University, English Section, Cairo (2009), and has been a member of the Egyptian Bar Association since 2009. He speaks Arabic and English.
